Meganisi is a small Ionian island in the sheltered waters between Lefkada and the mainland, one of Greece's sailing paradises. It has three villages: Spartochori, on the hill above the port of Porto Spilia, with flowery lanes; Katomeri, the main village; and Vathy, a little harbour in a deep bay where yachts moor.
The coast is indented, with coves reached on foot or by boat, such as Agios Ioannis, Limonari and Fanari. The large sea cave of Papanikolis is named after the Greek submarine that hid there during World War II.
Getting there
The ferry leaves from Nydri on Lefkada and takes about half an hour; cars can be taken.
